Liverpool : Liberal Councillor welcomes pride for the LGBT communities
On Saturday 7th August 2010, Cllr Hazel Williams welcomed the City Council sponsored Liverpool Pride for the LGBT communities. She spoke of the city council’s practical steps to combat homophobia, including its anti bullying programme in schools and support to STOP Hate Crime UK.
Hazel also spoke of her being there as both first citizen and as an ordinary citizen with her personal commitment for equality.
She reminded the march how she was one of the co-sponsors of the cities introduction of a civic partnership register in advance of national legislation, which was passed with unanimous council support.
