Statement from Save West Derby Children’s Centre committee
The Save West Derby Children's Centre committee would like to publicly thank Councillor Steve Radford and his party for all the help, support and understanding that he displayed throughout the public consultation into the closing of the four Liverpool Sure Start Children's centre. The proposed closure of our centre was one that had emotions running extremely high but our plight was understood and was never dismissed.
We believe that it was councillor Radford's passion, commitment and drive to get the best deal for the families of Liverpool, was one of the main reasons that ultimately helped save our centre. We would like to publicly thank Councillor Radford who looked outside the box and found a solution so that frontline workers and families suffered less in these very hard times. Councillor Radford was also prepared to set aside party differences and work alongside others to find a solution that would save money but also keep services for children and families, in our view a true community champion.
The West Derby Children's Centre committee would like to place on record our gratitude and admiration for the hard work and passion that Councillor Radford continually displays and hopes that he continues to be involved with Liverpool politics for many years to come.
