PRESS RELEASE
Leading Liberal Democrat Councillor joins the Liberal Party
Bill Brandwood a former Deputy Group Leader of Bournemouth Council Liberal Democrat Group who compiled the 2007 local manifesto for the LibDems has joined the Liberal Party. He was elected to Bournemouth Council in 1995 having been elected to Dorset County Council in 1993. He was one of the councillors for Boscombe East and then Queens Park wards. On Bournemouth Council he chaired the Economy Scrutiny Panel and later the Health Scrutiny Panel.
He claims that the “U turn” performed by the local LibDems over the future of the Winter Gardens is a good example of a party “that says anything people want to hear to get elected”
“Although many people vote on local issues they will not vote for a party that at national level supports Euro Federalism, Rule by Brussels and un-elected Regional Assemblies. They will vote for a party that is Internationalist and demands a Referendum on whether the people of the South West want a Regional Assembly”
Bill Brandwood has launched a local campaign with the aim of re-establishing the Bournemouth Liberal Association. “I have the commitment to achieve that. At a national level the party is over for the Liberal Democrats and that with energy and drive the Liberal Party has a bright future.”
Hewould like to hearfrom others who want to help re-establish the Liberal Party in Dorset. Just write, phone or e-mail. Bill Brandwood, 112 Markham Road, Charminster, Bournemouth. Tel: 01202 527581 or e-mail motcomm@aol.com
