More than 40 Liberals gathered at Bickleigh in Mid Devon to welcome Rob Wheway as party president, on the first of his “meet the members” tours.

During the meeting a new Liberal Party organisation was inaugurated for the redrawn parliamentary constituency of Torridge and West Devon. The new constituency organisation was sponsored by the five Liberal Party members on the Torridge District Council and also by Trevor Sillifant of Holsworthy who was formerly the chairman of the Torrington Constituency Liberal Association.

Cake Cutting

After the lunch there was a cake cutting ceremony for Rob to perform (above) as Liberals celebrated another 21 years of Liberal activity in Devon. Liberals were also there from Cornwall, they joined with Devon Liberals in giving Rob the message to take away that “Liberals are alive and well down here.”
