Petition to facilitate change to electoral law to allow the inclusion of photographs on electoral ballot papers

Liberal Party member Anna Billson-Page has submitted an E-petition on number10.gov.uk seeking a change in electoral law to allow a photograph of a candidate on an election ballot paper should the candidate concerned request it.

The supporting statement goes on to say:

We believe that government should enable our electoral system to operate in a more open way in the interests of democracy. We believe adding a further identifier to ballot forms in the form of photographs would be one small but significant step towards removing unnecessary confusion - e.g. in the case of candidates and parties with similar names, or where there may be multiple independents.
