Cllr John SavageCouncillor John Savage

John Savage has been a County Councillor on North Yorkshire County Council since 1997. He was elected to Harrogate Borough Council in 2007.

In August this year John had had enough of the Tories. He resigned from the Tory Party. The Conservative policies of cutting services and their solution to North Yorkshire waste by incineration were the final straw.

John said, “I saw the damage done by Mrs Thatcher – these cuts look as though they are going to be even worse. The cavalry charges against working class people were an obscenity.”

John Savage and John Clark have now formed a political group on North Yorkshire County Council. John Clark welcomed John Savage with the following statement: “John Savage will be a superb addition not only to the Liberal Councillor team but also to the Liberal Party. He has community politics running throughout his actions as a councillor. I am really looking forward to campaigning alongside him.”

In response John Savage replied, “Having the freedom to represent the people in my Division without a party whip is exciting.”

The ConDem cuts will hit the poor the weak, the ill and families hardest – above all if the start is anything to go by THEY WILL NOT BE FAIR.
